Full NMR on a laboratory bench: cryogen-free permanent magnet, 15 software-selectable nuclei and under 300 W.

Bruker Fourier 80 is an 80 MHz (1.88 T) benchtop NMR spectrometer with 15 X nuclei, 5 mm tubes and 94 kg weight.

Fourier 80 brings NMR to a conventional laboratory bench. Its permanent magnet needs neither liquid helium nor nitrogen, eliminating cryogen supply and quench risk and easing room requirements.

At 80 MHz (1.88 T), proton resolution at 50%, 0.55% and 0.11% peak height is no worse than 0.4/15/30 Hz on the standard model, or 0.3/10/15 Hz on the HD version.

Sensitivity depends on configuration: High Performer (¹H only) reaches at least 240:1 or 220:1 with pulsed gradient on 1% ethylbenzene; Workhorse (¹H/¹³C) 180:1 or 160:1 with gradient; TripleXpert (¹H/¹³C/¹⁹F) 110:1 on both ¹H and ¹⁹F; Multi-Talent (¹H/X) 100:1 on ¹H, 90:1 on ¹⁹F, 130:1 on ³¹P and 25:1 on ²⁹Si.

Multi-Talent selects 15 X nuclei in software—²H, ⁷Li, ¹¹B, ¹³C, ¹⁵N, ¹⁹F, ²³Na, ²⁷Al, ²⁹Si, ³¹P, ⁵¹V, ⁷⁷Se, ⁷⁹Br, ¹¹⁹Sn and ¹²⁹Xe—plus ¹H, without changing probes.

It accepts standard 5 mm, 7-inch tubes and sealed tubes; J-Young tubes require manual operation. The unit is about 50 × 70 × 60 cm, weighs about 94 kg and uses less than 300 W on 100–240 V, 50–60 Hz. TopSpin handles full processing, GoScan guides routine work and a PAL autosampler provides automation. Fourier 80 Duo adds pulsed field gradients for solvent/water suppression and diffusion studies.
