impact II VIP is a QTOF mass spectrometer with full-sensitivity resolution above 60,000, 1 ppm mass accuracy and five orders of dynamic range.

impact II VIP is an ultrahigh-resolution quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometer. The manufacturer specifies full-sensitivity resolution (FSR) above 60,000. This means that the resolving power is achieved without reducing sensitivity, whereas many time-of-flight instruments require a trade-off between the two.

Mass accuracy is 1 ppm with automatic calibration and dynamic range spans five orders of magnitude. The stated sensitivity is at the picogram level and is described as comparable with a triple quadrupole. A 10-bit digitiser operating at 50 Gbit/s retains the specified resolving power even with ultrafast chromatography.

Applications include screening for residues and contaminants, forensic analysis, industrial and synthetic chemistry, and biomarker discovery. The instrument supports VIP-HESI, DART, GC-APCI and APPI sources. It can be coupled to UHPLC, gas chromatography, capillary electrophoresis, ion chromatography and direct sample introduction, with mode changes taking under ten minutes.
