M4 TORNADO

The finest spot in the range: local analysis and elemental maps at under 20 µm.

M4 TORNADO is a micro-XRF with a sub-20 µm spot, vacuum chamber, mapping to 190 × 160 mm and up to 12-layer analysis.

M4 TORNADO focuses X-rays through a polycapillary lens to a spot under 20 µm. It performs point composition analysis, 2D elemental mapping and multilayer coating analysis of up to 12 selected layers.

The sample chamber holds a controlled stable vacuum down to 2 mbar; optional helium purge improves light-element measurements at atmospheric pressure. It accepts samples to 7 kg and maps areas to 190 × 160 mm. The stage moves up to 100 mm/s with dwell times from 1 ms per pixel, enabling up to 40 million pixels in one scan. XFlash silicon-drift detectors acquire spectra; XMethod quantifies and calculates layer thickness, while AMICS automates mineralogy.
