Benchtop TD-NMR for production QC: fat, moisture, solid fat and fuel hydrogen by ISO, AOCS, IUPAC and ASTM methods.

Bruker minispec mq analyzers span 7.5, 20 and 60 MHz, use cryogen-free magnets and support sample temperatures from −100 to +200 °C.

Time-domain NMR measures free-induction or echo decay rather than a high-resolution spectrum. Signal behavior reveals the proton fraction in liquids and solids, enabling fast, nondestructive, solvent-free measurements of fat, moisture, solid content and hydrogen.

The minispec mq range includes mq7.5 for large samples, mq10 for 40 mm tubes, mq20 at 20 MHz with 18 mm tubes, and mq60 at 60 MHz. The platform spans 2–65 MHz and offers 0.17, 0.47 and 1.41 T fields. Lower frequency handles larger conductive or dense samples; higher frequency better separates components.

The permanent magnet needs no cryogens. Platform temperature control covers −100 to +200 °C, with narrower accessory ranges such as +5 to +50 °C for mq60 and −5 to +65 °C for mq20. Electronics include a 300 W transmitter, digital quadrature receiver, 20 ns pulse-programmer resolution and 12-bit, 32,000-point digitizer.

Applications include fat and moisture, solid fat content, fuel hydrogen, four-component polymer decay analysis and textile spin finish. Methods include AOCS Cd 16b-93, ISO 8292, IUPAC 2.150 and ASTM D7171/D3701/D4808. minispec Plus supports 21 CFR Part 11. The 75 × 65 cm platform weighs about 120 kg depending on configuration and operates on 100–240 V AC in rooms at 18–28 °C and 20–80% noncondensing humidity.
