neofleX is a benchtop axial MALDI-TOF/TOF with 30,000 resolving power, mass accuracy down to 1.5 ppm and imaging at 20 pixels per second.

neofleX is a benchtop axial MALDI-TOF/TOF introduced by Bruker in 2024 for spatial biology. The manufacturer describes it as a system built for speed and flexibility in a small footprint, an unusual combination for a full TOF/TOF instrument.

It addresses two groups of applications. For MALDI tissue imaging, it reaches up to 20 pixels per second at 20 µm spatial resolution. In an example cited by the manufacturer, a panel of 116 proteins was imaged at 30 µm pixel spacing in seven hours. For characterisation of biological medicines by MS/MS, the fragmentation module has been redesigned for sensitivity, speed and sequence coverage, with LID, CID and ISD modes.

The effective flight path is 124 cm in linear mode and 260 cm in reflectron mode. Imaging data are processed in SCiLS Lab and SCiLS Scope with SCiLS autopilot automation; biopharmaceutical characterisation uses BioPharma Compass.
