Chemical-information-driven beam routing gives a Raman preview 5–10 times faster than grid scanning.

RAMANwalk uses a random-walk algorithm for fast preview maps, 350 nm lateral resolution and a 1650-pixel detector.

RAMANwalk speeds confocal Raman mapping through an algorithm rather than new optics. Conventional grid scans spend equal time on empty and interesting areas; its random-walk method follows chemical spectra, steering the beam around detected components to build a preliminary image before a full map. Bruker claims a 5–10-fold preview speed gain.

Point illumination uses galvanometer X/Y scanning and stage Z motion. Spectral resolution is better than 1.5 cm⁻¹ depending on grating, with 1.5 cm⁻¹ FWHM at 785 nm/1200 lines/mm and 0.74 cm⁻¹ per pixel. Range begins at 100 cm⁻¹. With a 100×/0.90 NA objective, resolution is 350 nm in both X and Y and 1 µm Z.

One or two lasers can be chosen from 488, 532, 671 and 785 nm. A cooled 1650-pixel CCD line detector matches the point-scanning architecture. Polarization, low-wavenumber access from 50 cm⁻¹ and precision peak-shift tracking are options. Manufacturer materials differ on stage specification, so confirm the selected configuration.
