rapifleX is a MALDI-TOF/TOF with a 10 kHz laser, imaging at up to 40 pixels per second and acquisition of a 1,536-position plate in under nine minutes.

rapifleX is a floor-standing MALDI-TOF/TOF system that the manufacturer describes as a highly advanced instrument in its class. Its defining feature is throughput, stated to be up to twenty times that of conventional MALDI-TOF instruments.

A 1,536-position plate can be read in under nine minutes, or about 0.3 seconds per sample, with a typical sample volume of around 100 nL or less. Tissue imaging reaches 40 pixels per second with true square pixels; the cited example uses 30 µm pixel spacing.

The instrument has a 10 kHz smartbeam 3D scanning laser, a three-stage gridless reflectron with software adaptation for MS and MS/MS modes, and a 10-bit digitiser. Precursor ion selector resolution reaches 1,000 and the mass range extends to m/z 8,000. Application configurations include rapifleX MALDI Tissuetyper for tissue imaging and rapifleX MALDI PharmaPulse for high-throughput screening.
