scimaX

Ultrahigh resolution without cryogenic infrastructure: a conduction-cooled 7 T magnet for a standard laboratory.

scimaX combines a conduction-cooled 7 T magnet, resolving power above 20 million and no liquid-helium refills.

scimaX is a magnetic resonance mass spectrometer built around a conduction-cooled 7 T magnet. Its key distinction from solariX is that it fits in a standard laboratory and needs neither liquid-helium refills nor an emergency quench line, removing major operating and infrastructure constraints.

Its stated maximum resolving power exceeds 20 million, versus more than 10 million for solariX high-field configurations. Mass accuracy is 600 ppb with internal calibration. Bruker claims routine sub-ppm accuracy and access to isotopic fine structure for confident molecular formula assignment in known and unknown compounds.

ESI and MALDI sources are standard, including a rapidly switchable dual source with a smartbeam-II laser. Optional sources are APPI, APCI and GC-APCI. Fragmentation methods include ECD, ETD, CID, EDD, SORI-CID, MALDI-ISD and NETD. The aXelerate workflow processes more than 200 samples per day.
