A model dedicated to small molecules: metabolomics and lipidomics with isomer separation using collision cross section measurements.

timsMetabo is an ion mobility mass spectrometer for 4D metabolomics and lipidomics, with a TIMS-MX analyser and acquisition speeds of up to 300 Hz.

timsMetabo is an ion mobility mass spectrometer optimised for small-molecule analysis. The manufacturer positions it as a research platform for 4D metabolomics and 4D lipidomics. While other timsTOF models focus primarily on proteomics, this instrument targets metabolomes and lipidomes.

Its core is a TIMS-MX ion mobility analyser with MoRE mobility range extension technology and a two-stage ion funnel, combined with a high-precision quadrupole and Athena Ion Processor. Ion mobility separation is particularly useful here: lipids and metabolites may share the same accurate mass yet differ in structure. Measured collision cross section provides an additional, reproducible identifier.

Acquisition rates reach up to 300 Hz for targeted quantitative analysis. The instrument uses a VIP-HESI source and also supports CaptiveSpray. Data processing options include MetaboScape, TASQ with real-time quality control, TwinScape and QSee.
