timsOmni

An Omnitrap on the timsTOF platform: nine fragmentation mechanisms in one instrument for top-down and native mass spectrometry.

timsOmni combines TIMS-MS, an Omnitrap and multimodal electron fragmentation for deep proteoform sequencing and structural analysis.

timsOmni is an ion mobility mass spectrometry platform built on the timsTOF Ultra 2 with an integrated Omnitrap. Designed for deep proteoform sequencing and structural analysis, it supports MSⁿ with freely ordered stages and multimodal electron fragmentation.

Its distinguishing feature is the range of dissociation mechanisms. Alongside collision-induced fragmentation, it offers electron capture and high-energy variants, electron ionisation, negative-ion electron capture, electron detachment dissociation and photodissociation. Electron energy is adjustable from 0.1 eV to more than 100 eV. This helps preserve labile modifications that conventional fragmentation can destroy.

The instrument supports CaptiveSpray, NEOS for offline nanoelectrospray and VIP-HESI with integrated atmospheric-pressure chemical ionisation. Data are processed with OmniScape, OmniWave, OligoQuest and ProSight Native.
