timsTOF fleX

Two sources in one instrument: a complete ESI platform for omics and automated MALDI tissue imaging.

timsTOF fleX combines ESI and MALDI sources for tissue imaging at 20 µm spatial resolution, or down to 5 µm with microGRID.

timsTOF fleX combines a high-speed ion mobility ESI platform based on timsTOF HT with a fully automated MALDI source for tissue imaging. It is the dual-source model in the range, allowing conventional omics data and spatial maps of molecular distribution to be acquired on one instrument.

This combination underpins the SpatialOMx approach: tissue regions with distinct molecular profiles are first identified in a section, then selected for deeper omics analysis. The imaging resolution is 20 µm, or down to 5 µm with the optional microGRID technology.

The instrument uses a smartbeam 3D laser. Ion mobility separation with collision cross section measurement operates in both modes. Imaging data are processed in SCiLS Lab with SCiLS autopilot automation, while omics data are processed in MetaboScape and Bruker ProteoScape.
