timsTOF Pro 2 is an ion mobility mass spectrometer with PASEF technology for 4D proteomics, metabolomics and lipidomics.

timsTOF Pro 2 is a versatile platform designed for a broad range of omics applications. The manufacturer describes it as a 4D multiomics system for proteomics, metabolomics and lipidomics on a single instrument.

The instrument uses a dual-stage TIMS analyser with three times the ion capacity of the previous generation and a duty cycle approaching 100%. Its MS/MS rate in PASEF mode exceeds 120 Hz. This is lower than the rates of timsTOF HT and timsUltra AIP and reflects its position as a versatile system rather than one optimised for maximum throughput.

The stated performance is about 9,000 protein groups from 200 ng of lysate with a 35-minute gradient, and up to 27,768 phosphopeptide identifications in phosphoproteomic analysis. Supported sources include ESI, GC-APCI and VIP-HESI, as well as a dual APCI + HESI probe for multiomics work.
