A doubled flight tube doubles resolving power for difficult isobaric overlaps.

icpTOF 2R delivers resolving power above 6,000 to separate challenging isobaric interferences.

icpTOF 2R is the high-resolution member of the range. Its flight tube is twice as long as in icpTOF R, doubling resolving power to more than 6,000 versus more than 3,000.

It is intended for applications where collision/reaction chemistry cannot resolve difficult isobaric overlaps and physical mass separation is required. The brochure reports a tenfold improvement in iron-56 detection limits with the 2R.

The trade-off is sensitivity: 30,000 counts per ppb for uranium-238 versus 50,000 on the R. The 2R uses four-stage differential pumping and a second turbomolecular pump. Plasma source, QCell collision/reaction cell, sample introduction and TOFpilot software are shared across the icpTOF range.
