Every isotope at once: a full mass spectrum every 30 microseconds instead of sequential scanning.

icpTOF R records the full 6–280 Th spectrum every 30 µs, with resolving power above 3,000 and uranium sensitivity of 50,000 counts per ppb.

icpTOF R is an inductively coupled plasma time-of-flight mass spectrometer. Unlike a quadrupole ICP-MS, it captures the whole 6–280 Th mass spectrum every 30 microseconds rather than scanning masses sequentially.

For transient signals from individual particles, cells or laser-ablation peaks, a quadrupole can measure only a few selected masses. The time-of-flight analyzer instead records the elemental composition of each event, enabling elemental maps and single-particle characterization.

The R is the middle model in the range, with resolving power above 3,000 and uranium-238 sensitivity of 50,000 counts per ppb. Its source and interface use Thermo iCAP RQ hardware. The QCell collision/reaction cell uses helium and reaction gas mixtures, while a rejection filter suppresses plasma and matrix ions. TOFpilot controls the system and integrates autosamplers and laser-ablation devices.
