icpTOF S2 reaches 300,000 uranium counts per ppb and captures the complete spectrum every 12 µs.

icpTOF S2 emphasizes speed and sensitivity rather than the resolving power of the 2R. Its resolving power exceeds 900, while uranium-238 sensitivity reaches 300,000 counts per ppb—six times the R and ten times the 2R. It is also the fastest in the range, with 83,000 extractions per second and a full spectrum every 12 microseconds.

This sensitivity supports finer bioimaging and detection of smaller particles at high signal-to-noise ratio. Manufacturer examples include 225 counts from a 50 nm gold nanoparticle, separation of gold and core-shell nanoparticle mixtures at 36 µs time resolution, and skeletal-muscle-cell imaging at 1 µm spatial resolution.

The S2 is more compact than the other models. It shares the plasma source, QCell collision/reaction cell, rejection filter and TOFpilot software with single-particle and integrated laser-ablation workflows.
