Vocus Flex

Field-swappable ionization modules switch between proton transfer and adduct ionization on site.

Vocus Flex combines interchangeable Vocus PTR and Vocus Aim reactors, resolving power above 10,000 and sub-pptv detection limits.

Vocus Flex is a new generation of field-deployable Vocus chemical-ionization mass spectrometers for real-time trace analysis. Its modular ion source uses slide-out reactors with automatic connections, allowing on-site replacement without a service visit.

The two reactors cover different compound classes. Vocus PTR operates at 1–5 mbar and is optimized for protonation and charge transfer with H3O+, NH4+, NO+ and O2+ reagent ions. Vocus Aim is a 50 mbar medium-pressure flow cell with a tapered channel and fluoropolymer wetted surfaces, optimized for positive and negative adduct ionization using iodide, benzene cation, protonated acetone, bromide, ammonium and nitrate.

A vacuum ultraviolet reagent-ion source eliminates radioactive polonium. Resolving power above 10,000 and detection limits below pptv are available. The Flex 2R enclosure is 30% smaller than its predecessor and just over one meter tall, allowing transport in a conventional car.
