Vocus PTR-TOF

Trace volatile organic compounds in air down to parts per trillion, without sampling or sample preparation.

Vocus PTR-TOF provides resolving power up to 15,000, xylene detection from 1 ppt in one minute, and H3O+, NO+, O2+ and NH4+ reagent ions.

Vocus PTR-TOF uses proton-transfer-reaction ionization to quantify volatile organic compounds in real time. Air or process gas enters the reactor directly, without collection in a container, preconcentration or chromatographic separation.

Its patented ion-molecule reaction cell has an axial DC field and RF focusing and operates at 0.5–5 mbar and up to 120 °C. Four reagent ions—H3O+, NO+, O2+ and NH4+—extend the range of analytes beyond conventional PTR.

The range varies in resolving power, sensitivity and size, from the 55 kg Elf with resolving power of 500 to the 2R with resolving power of 15,000 and sensitivity of 10,000 counts per ppb. Xylene detection limits start at 1 ppt with one minute of averaging. Acquility controls acquisition, Tofware processes data and Thuner provides automatic tuning.
