Carbon and sulfur in 40 seconds with ZoneProtect combustion and five decades of sulfur response.

G4 ICARUS Series 2 uses an induction furnace and dual-range NDIR detection for 0.1–1 g samples in about 40 seconds.

G4 ICARUS Series 2 determines carbon and sulfur by high-frequency induction combustion and nondispersive IR detection. Since April 2026 the range has been made by XRF Scientific rather than Bruker, with its model name retained.

Oxygen combustion turns C to CO₂ and S to SO₂. The adjustable induction furnace uses patented ZoneProtect exhaust shielding to limit deposits in the combustion zone. Carbon uses a dual-range reference-beam NDIR detector. Bruker/XRF Scientific claims sulfur detection with tenfold higher signal-to-noise than conventional IR absorption and five decades of linear range.

Dry inorganic samples of 0.1–1 g (typically 0.5 g) include metals, ores, cement, limestone, glass, ceramics and soils in ceramic crucibles. Nominal analysis is 40 s; automatic cleaning completes a cycle in under a minute. Oxygen and clean compressed air are required; calibration uses solid reference materials.
