G8 GALILEO analyzes O, N, H and optionally Ar with FusionControl, external IR furnace and 1–100 u quadrupole MS.

G8 GALILEO is the top gas-impurity analyzer for O, N and H, optionally Ar via mass spectrometry. The range moved from Bruker to XRF Scientific in April 2026 under the same name.

Compared with G6 LEONARDO, it offers an external IR furnace for diffusible hydrogen in welds under ISO 3690/AWS A4.3, alongside the water-cooled FusionControl electrode furnace with noncontact temperature measurement. Diffusible hydrogen is tested separately because it causes cold cracking in weld metal.

An optional 1–100 u quadrupole MS with channel electron multiplier detects argon, low-ng/g hydrogen and temperature-programmed gas release by TDMS. Standard detectors are dual-range reference-beam NDIR for O as CO and reference-channel thermal conductivity for N/H. Automated dosing of ten gas volumes calibrates from 99.999% pure gases or certified mixtures using measured pressure, temperature and volume rather than solid standards. Automated crucible/sample loading is optional.
