YOUNG IN Chromass / Plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS and MIP-MS)
ACE 3000 ICP-MS
0.001 ppb detection for indium and lithium with an octopole cell and patented sigma/epsilon ion optics.
ACE 3000 ICP-MS combines an in-house quadrupole filter, octopole collision/reaction cell and patented interface chamber.
ACE 3000 ICP-MS is an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer for multielement analysis, low detection limits, wide dynamic range and isotope measurements.
Three design features define the system. Young In ACE develops and manufactures its own quadrupole mass filters and controls RF and DC rod voltages. Rod straightness and parallelism support stable mass separation; in-house control also supports predictable after-sales service, especially for remote laboratories.
The octopole collision/reaction cell uses helium and kinetic energy discrimination (KED) to remove polyatomic overlaps from argon plasma and solvents. For example, abundant ⁵⁶Fe overlaps ⁴⁰Ar¹⁶O; without a cell, analysis must use the less abundant ⁵⁷Fe. The manufacturer claims more collisions and better ion transmission than quadrupole or hexapole cells.
In the patented interface chamber, sample-matrix-specific sigma and epsilon ion lenses reject argon, unwanted matrix ions, metastable atoms and photons that would raise background. The plasma runs on argon.
Manufacturer tests report 0.001 ppb detection limits at blank level for ¹¹⁵In, ⁷Li and mass 175, with calibration coefficients of determination of 0.99999, 0.99984 and 0.99999 respectively. The system also supports nanoparticle concentration and size-distribution measurements and environmental impact assessment.
Applications include metals, semiconductors, environmental monitoring, life sciences, food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and petrochemicals. The instrument is made by Young In ACE; Young In Chromass holds exclusive international sales rights. The manufacturer's catalog calls the mass-175 test a “Ruthenium test result” but labels the graph ¹⁷⁵Lu, which is lutetium; ruthenium isotopes are in the 96–104 range. The element behind that reported limit requires clarification with the manufacturer.
